944 Collins Avenue Miami, FL, 33139
This Mediterranean style boutique hotel features charming interior designs, inviting courtyards, fountains, hand-painted tiles, tropical pool, bar and waterfall, and more. The Blue Moon is named after the song "Blue Moon," whose composer, Irving Berlin, spent a great deal of time vacationing and entertaining on South Beach. The hotel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is a happy union of two hotels -- the Art Deco-style Lafayette and the Mediterranean-style Les Suites, now bridged by an arched breezeway. Both architectural styles remain intact, thanks to the stringent standards and oversight of the Miami Beach Design Review Board. The results of the renovation that united the two buildings are Art Deco features such as terrazzo floors blending with the arched windows of the Mediterranean style. Today, the hotel continues to make history. The newly renovated rooms and suites are stylishly decorated and appointed with luxury amenities, including soft cotton bathrobes, CD player, minibar, coffee maker, irons and ironing boards, and complimentary safes. Phones feature private voicemail and two lines per room. Each room houses an armoire and sitting area. Furniture is upholstered in bright, tropical colors.
